I’ve been wanting to do a review for my black Express Banded Cap Sleeve Dress in XXS ever since I bought it for my company anniversary party. LBDs never stood out to me since I try to keep my dresses more colorful so this is actually my first one!
It currently retails for $88 in red or black but I used a 30% off coupon that I received in the mail. After the coupon this dress was roughly $62 before taxes.
Currently Express has a promotion for $30 off your $75 purchase, (Promo Code: 9598 or print a copy HERE) but unfortunately size XXS isn’t available online. I had much better luck in-store so if you’re interested check them out in person.
(Sorry about the poor picture quality… borrowed a point-and-shoot to make taking pics easier!)
Front: (excuse my pasty legs! :D)
The rayon/spandex knit dress is TINY on the rack. I tried on an XS as well as XXS just for kicks and XXS was perfect! When worn it bunches a little around the back area but its to be expected. The material is fairly thick and sturdy and really pulls you in in all the right places. I was a little afraid of the dress riding up a little as I walked (never a good thing) but thats just me being paranoid. It didn’t move too much when I finally wore it out.
Other reviews recommend to size down, and clearly XXS is the smallest size but I find it works for my body very well and hits at a good spot on the leg. The cap sleeves also make it a little more conservative since this dress is definitely body conscious. If you do buy this dress make sure to wear underwear with minimal VPL!
(I took a few more photos with flash to show the banding detail)
I also went to Crossroads Trading Co. yesterday to look around and found a couple scores:
- A 3.1 Philip Lim bow tie chambray blouse (couldn’t find the size) for $26.50 (originally $225!)
- Express knit tunic in XS for $6
- Banana Republic silk tunic in Size 0 for $15
I also got my Jeffrey Campbell X-On’s in the mail this week so I wanted to update with a few pictures. The platforms are about 5″ tall (I end up 5’6″!! Woo!) so I’m still getting used to walking in them. They’re actually pretty comfortable so far despite the huge platform.
