Nate Berkus for Target Collection

Finally… a Target collection to get excited about!  Remember when the designer clothing collaborations made the general public go bananas?  (Missoni?  Rodarte?) I think those days are finally over, but I’m honestly very excited for the Nate Berkus decor collection that’s coming to stores on October 21st.

I have two of his lamps in the bedroom and even though time has passed I still love them very much.  He is very good at blending modern, organic, warmth and glamour together!  I am a big fan of gold and metallics.

{see more home photos here}

My favorites:

The turtle wall hanging, the ikat towels, the geometric picture frame and the faceted gold vase!  And maybe a pillow or two.

Do you see anything you like?  I’m not sure if I should buy right when the collection comes out or wait until clearance time. Hmm.

Isabel Marant Bekket Sneakers vs. Target Selma Sneakers

Have you seen these Isabel Marant wedge sneakers?  Upon first glance I thought they were strange looking but admittedly they’re growing on me.  Moon shoes, anyone?  I’ve always loved high top sneakers but this takes it to the extreme.  Especially with that puffy marshmallow-like tongue!

I really like how Anne Hathaway is wearing it here:

Isabel Marant Bekket sneakers ($640)

For those of you who don’t want to pay for the real thing, Target now has a dupe for only $30!

Isabel Marant Bekket sneakers ($685)

vs.

Target Xhilaration Selma Sneakers ($30)

What do you think?  As much as I like them I’m going to pass on these… they’ll probably go out of style pretty quickly and I love my Sam Edelman Alexander sneakers too much to buy another black high top sneaker.

vintage lace romper and nude heels

I scored the GREATEST find at Goodwill not too long ago!

1970s vintage black lace romper for $4 :)

I did a little research on the tag via the vintage fashion guild and the tag is comparable to their 70s swimsuit reference. All of the seams are raw and the garment is most definitely made by hand! I’m sure this is meant to be an undergarment though. The nude lining underneath is sheer so I’m wearing it with a black tank and bodycon shorts.

This is definitely a daring look for me. (Looks like something xppinkx would wear with no problem whatsoever! :) She can pull off anything, really.) I don’t see myself wearing this to a club, but possibly a lounge or to a restaurant if I’m feeling fancy enough.

I wore them here with a pair of nude patent Rebecca Taylor pumps I got at Loehmann’s for $35. (Originally $329, now $164 from Neiman Marcus in a size 5.5) I’m not sure I will keep it because the soles are SO stiff and they’re a little loose on me. Sigh. Not very walkable or practical. They’re so gorgeous though!

(I haven’t worn them out yet… otherwise I wouldn’t have put them on the bed! haha)

I also got a pair of the nude Virginia pumps from Target that PetiteAsianGirl looks so fabulous in :) They’re definitely more comfortable than the Rebecca Taylors but aren’t as pretty to look at.

Eeeee! I’m so happy I found this romper! This is definitely one of those items that make me want to do a happy dance. I should always keep this purchase in mind when I’m shopping…(as in my previous post) I have to experience this type of euphoria and nothing less when I buy something! :P

Little splurges

bookends, boon, dish rack, target

I’d like to think I’m doing pretty good with managing my finances, but I’ve always tried to push myself to do better. To be more frugal! To save more! Invest more!!! More, more, more!!

But even though my fixed expenses are going to be higher than ever (I’m moving into an expensive 1 bedroom) Yup. I’ve been a bad girl.

Being “spendy” is completely relative.  If you’re a regular coupon clipper and you happen to buy something without some sort of discount, it just feels wrong. But you know what?  Life is short. If silly little things like bookends and soap dispensers make me happy…. then damn it, I’m going to make myself happy and buy it!

Even if it’s full priced and not on sale.  *gasp*

(…as long as I’m spending less than I make.)

- Target Foo dogs bookends $24.99 (I’m thinking my new home office color scheme will be yellow, beige, black and white)
- Target Boon drying rack $14.99 (For my delicate tea and glass cups)

- Milk glass soap dispenser  $12.99 (I’m using it for dish soap)

Target’s Kissing Pleat vs. West Elm’s Pintuck Duvet

I just went to Target on my lunch break when I saw this queen comforter set for $79.99.  (Comes with comforter, 2 pillow shams, and a bedskirt)  I’ve been lusting over the West Elm pintuck duvet for an entire year and now I think I’ve found my solution!

I also found a matching decorative pillow that’s nearly the length of a body pillow for $24.99.  This is quite a splurge in my eyes but I’ve wanted this look for such a long time.

West Elm Pintuck Duvet – $99 for a Full/Queen
