I’m still very new to tape-mani’s but this came out great! I found that removing the tape before the polish dried worked out the best for me. Try it with different color combos for a different look!
I love nail gradients! Sponge gradients are very easy to do and they create a lot of impact for the effort. The only important thing is to find opaque cream polishes that work well. Polishes with metal flecks or glitters are usually sheer or have a jelly base and as a result they don’t sponge well.
I tried experimenting with a more dense glitter topcoat but the bigger glitter pieces took away from the overall scale print. This is my first time using China Glaze Fairy Dust and it is BEAUTIFUL over intricate stamping designs like this one.
I wanted to try out a different look instead of just 1 color or my usual “one color + glittery accent” so I included white in the mix!
Thumb: China Glaze For Audrey, Zoya Trixie on the tip
Index: Essie Blanc then I created dots using a cheap Ebay dotting tool with Parado Nail glitter polish (bought in Japan, I can’t find it online). You can also use L’oreal Sparklicious. This is my first time dotting a precise arrangement! I love how this turned out.
Middle: China Glaze For Audrey, then I used a recent find of mine from Marshalls: Martha Stewart Glitter Glue!!! I found it for $12.99 yesterday and I’ve always wanted it especially after seeing Love Maegan’s nail tutorial using these. Craft stores also have it, usually above the $20 range, but cheaper with coupons if you can get some. After applying the glitter glue (top row, third from the right), I waited for it to try (it takes a while) and then topped it with Seche Vite topcoat.
Ring: Zoya Trixie as a base layer, then Milani Jewel FX in Silver. I moved the glitter bits around with a stick to cover any missing spots.
Pinky: Essie Blanc and I used China Glaze For Audrey on the Konad stamp. I used a plate from an Amazon MASH set (or Konad M61) for the crystal heart band. Little glitter dots of Parado polish were dotted on with the dotting tool.
1 coat of Sally Hansen Xtremem Wear Set the Stage (applied with a dotting tool, one glitter piece at a time)
1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat
Funny Bunny is a semi-sheer jelly white that I absolutely love. The finish is a bit softer than a full opaque white so the effect is a little more wearable. Funny Bunny is very pretty on its own but I wanted to spice it up a bit with some sparkle. Yay! At first I tried using Konad plate m79 with the Konad Gold metallic special polish on the accent finger.. but the gold didn’t show up at all. What a waste. So I covered it up with glitter. Instead of layering the glitter polish straight from the bottle, I used a dotting tool to apply one glitter piece at a time… thankfully I only did one nail or it may have taken the entire day. I think next time I’ll try this with a chunkier glitter to save time.
2 coats Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Ring My Shell
3 coats of Spoiled Jewelry Heist on the ring finger
1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat
Ring My Shell is very difficult to photograph! In real life the metallic sheen is more green in tone.. I think this photo by Kitty Pretty Fingers captures it better.
Jewelry Heist by Spoiled (which is part of Wet n Wild) was an impulse buy at CVS for $1.99 I believe. I like how the colors are a muted pink and gold hex glitter with specks of smaller iridescent glitter and silver glitter. I love glitter polishes and its nice to find an inexpensive one that has muted colors.
