I love spikes and studs.  I’ve been eyeing this Asos spiked hand harness for a while, but I didn’t think paying over $5 was worth it.

The original, in silver.  It’s now on sale from $16.57 to $8.29!

ASOS Multi Spike Looped Hand Harness

The dupe:

I saw this gold version at the Born Pretty online store for only $3.15.  And they have FREE shipping worldwide as well.  I normally get nail art supplies from here, but they also sell jewelry too.

BONUS:  There’s this listing on Ebay for the gold version for a mere $1.87 with free shipping.

Easy DIY Necklace from Chandelier Earrings

I have another quick and easy DIY project for you!

Well, maybe this doesn’t really count as a real DIY project. It only takes a few minutes to do and although you probably won’t have the same materials as I do, hopefully it’ll give you some ideas for your own jewelry stash. :)

So this month I visited Urban Outfitters during a 50% off clearance haul (blogged here) and I picked up a couple of gold and silver chandelier earrings for $2.50 each (buy here for $5 each):

After taking the earrings home I realized that they overwhelmed my face. But! The connector rings for the bottom tier were easily bent and I removed them from the earrings. I decided not to waste the extra pieces and use them in a new necklace.

The finished product:

What you’ll need:

  • Chandelier earrings that are cheap, broken, or ones that you’re bored of
  • Pliers (or your fingers if you wish)
  • A leftover necklace chain

Earrings before:

I removed the lower tier with my fingers first.

Ahh much better! The earrings are a little smaller and more wearable.

I took the original connector ring, opened it up, and closed it around the necklace chain. Then I did the same for the other side.

Easy, right? Almost TOO easy!

I could have stopped there, but I decided to add the extra gold piece onto it as well for a nice contrasting effect.

I ended up making two necklaces since I had two bare chains laying around.

A short one:

And a long one:

Yay! I already wore the long one out already. I like it because it’s dainty yet eye catching.

If I had the materials on hand, I think one of these fringed crescent pieces would make a REALLY cool ear piece, kind of like this one from Boticca:

Here’s another example!

Take these earrings from Forever 21 for $4.80.

If you connect them to a silver chain, you’ll get a dainty version reminiscent of this $258 Anthropologie necklace.

The shape is not exactly the same, but you get the idea, right? :)

The nice thing about working with metal jewelry is that it’s so easy to change it up: add pieces, take pieces away, combine pieces… the choices are endless and very easy to switch around as long as your connectors don’t break.

Have fun! :)

My local Urban Outfitters is having another extra 50% off clearance sale!  Usually when Black Friday rolls around they have a MASSIVE early morning sale that is insanely packed.  See my Black Friday haul from last year here.

I happened to walk in yesterday to check it out, and lo and behold… they are having the same sale.  Less crowds, less hassle and most likely more to choose from than the Black Friday sale.cut

What I bought:

Truly Madly Deeply Printed Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt, XS

$19.99 online, $5 at my local store

Silence and Noise Cutaway Bodycon Tank, S

$9.99 online, $5 at my local store

My shadow was blocking the light so it looks discolored towards the bottom… whoops.  It looks just like the model picture above.

Cooperative Island Pullover, S

$29.99 online, $5 at my local store

I thought this was cheeky and fun for cool nights in Hawaii… we’ll be going there a lot in the future so I thought it would be cute to wear there.  I liked the pineapple on the pink one but the blue sweater felt more wearable.  I love the back!!!

Sparkle and Fade Mesh Tank Top, XS

$44 online, $5 at my local store

Great for summer over a bikini.

UO Border Cave Collar

$18 online, $5 at my local store

 Beaded tribal necklace

I couldn’t find this one online, $5 at my local store

Chandelier spike earrings

$4.99 online, $2.50 at my local store

Bamboo hoop earrings

$9.99 online, $2.50 at my local store

I also snagged a couple boxes of these Kid Robot Pop! balloon figurines… you don’t know what you’re going to get until you open the box!

$1 each

A few other things I bought:  a funny chocolate candy bar for $1, and a pink little Iphone stand for $1

Grand total:

Make sure to call your local Urban Outfitters to see if the sale is still on.. I wanted to get this blog post up quickly so you can see a little bit of what they have there.

Hi. :)

(firstly I just wanted to say thank you for the all kind responses about my last post/tweets. I appreciate it very much and I feel lucky to have ‘met’ such kind people.)

French Affair is a very girly pink with a slight hint of purple. I think I still like Fiji best though :)

I went to Crossroads today to sell a J. Crew dress for store credit… and I ended up buying a few things. Unfortunately I left my other $52 credit at home (doh!) so this will come out in my June budget at the end of the month.

I’m looking for some new summer sandals for upcoming Disneyland + Hawaii trips and these pink & gold Ecote sandals were too pretty to pass up. Normally I buy black or silver sandals but I’m really feeling girlier things lately :) .

They’re made with a leather upper so I hope they’ll last a little longer than the plastic summer sandals in stores right now. (Crossroads was selling this for $25…I think these are Urban Outfitters overstock so I’m unsure where else to buy these)

I also got a short purple halter dress for $0.50 after I sold that J. Crew dress, and a $12.50 ring reminiscent of Pamela Love bird skull rings.

My cheap version:

I know its a bit crazy looking but I guess my jewelry taste nowadays tends toward the masculine and geometric kind.
