Homemade Pineapple Ice Cream

Do you have a food processor at home?  Or a fancy blender that makes ice cream?  I recently tried out this easy recipe by YouTube sensation, Cookingwithdog.  (By the way you’re not actually cooking a dog with these instructional videos.  You’ll see what I mean!)

Justin bought me a food processor for Christmas because I kept saying I wanted to make this specific recipe for homemade pineapple ice cream.  I made the mistake of not freezing the pineapple chunks long enough, but I fixed it by popping the mixture into the freezer for a little while longer, and then adding more cream and mixing again.

…and this was HEAVENLY. HEA-VEN-LY!!!!  Light, fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth good.

Here’s another tried and true recipe for you! (See tried and true recipe posts #1 and #2)

Justin and I made these for a white elephant party this past holiday season and they were a hit!  It does sound a bit odd… but if you love bacon and sweet and salty snacks like salted caramels or chocolate covered pretzels, you’ll love these cookies!  The piece of bacon on top is just for a garnish and is optional.

See the recipe here, from Closet Cooking.

Hello again!

This is another update to our cook book master plan:

Our plan is to end up with a recipe book filled with our best finds so we can share it with family and friends in the future. And at the same time, we can save money from eating out and spend some quality time together while cooking. :)

There are so many recipe websites and books out there, and because of that it’s hard to know if that recipe is right for you. I’ve pinned close to 300 recipes on my Pinterest recipe pin board, yet I’ve only tried a handful of them. Sometimes its hard to get inspired to cook when there is so much to sift through! Here are a few more recipes that I’m adding to our recipe book. Hopefully if you have time on your hands you can try these out too.

Momofuku chicken wings in octo vinigarette

This recipe is incredibly easy and doesn’t cost much. Just get a tray of party wings for around $5, gather up a few items that are probably already in your pantry for the sauce, and BOOM you have a delicious entree~! Tasty, flavorful chicken wings with a satisfying crunch. And its oven baked, not fried!

Momofuku Spicy pork rice cakes

This is a delicious and spicy take on mapo tofu but instead of tofu, they use rice cakes. Asian rice cakes are so comforting to me! Some personal modifications: omit the dried peppers and grind the Sichuan peppercorns instead of leaving them whole.

Spaghetti meat sauce

I just made this over the weekend and Justin and I LOVELOVELOVE this dish. This is a Japanese meat sauce pasta recipe, but commenters have claimed it is the same as its Italian original.

Loco moco

THE Loco moco! A true comfort food! When Justin and I came back from Hawaii I made this for us to reminisce. Note: Using a powdered gravy mix is quicker but less satisfying.

Check out my Pinterest account in my “Yummies” section for more recipe ideas and inspiration!

Hi everyone! I’ve been trying not to shop lately so I’ve been keeping busy doing my nails and cooking with my SO. We love trying new recipes and finding new favorites! Our plan is to end up with a recipe book filled with our best finds so we can share it with family and friends in the future. And at the same time, we can save money from eating out and spend some quality time together while cooking. :)

Here are a few recipes we’ve tried in the last year that have been real successes and I’d like to share the wealth!

Pineapple Teriyaki Meatballs

The sauce takes a while to make in the crockpot but it is SO worth it. Thumbs up from the BF! I’m partial to picking out the pineapple pieces in Hawaiian pizza so this is right up my alley.

Minchi

My BF grew up with this at home and it is an INSANELY delicious comfort food. I could eat it for days with white rice. The cumin powder is key!!!

Bacon wrapped tofu

What is there to say!? It’s bacon. :) Savory and easy to make!

Fish chowder

A little more variety in ingredients, but surprisingly easy to make once everything is cut up. I added more bay seasoning than the original recipe so it was tastier :)

Spicy szechuan wontons

Folding the wontons are a little slow in the beginning before you get the hang of it. The sauce has just enough spice and its best served fresh so that the wontons don’t stick together. You can even make a simple soup out of chicken broth, garlic and lots of white pepper to accompany the wontons instead.

Spicy honey chicken

BF and I just made this last night and it. is. SOOOO. GOOOOOD. (We used chicken thighs with skin, however, and added additional spice rub between the skin and the meat.) This recipe is definitely a keeper and would be amazing for any potluck or summer barbecue. We even used an electric grill to cook it and the honey glaze caramelized beautifully!

As far as keeping track of my recipes, when I come across an interesting recipe over the internet, I save it in my Pinterest account in my “Yummies” section. If the recipes don’t turn out to be keepers, I delete them from the list! Pinterest is also great for online inspiration in general :)
