An Ode to a Shoe: Sam Edelman Zoe Boots

One fateful night in 2010, I was out having dinner and drinks at Santana Row in San Jose.  As my group was gathering outside figuring out where to go next, I saw out of the corner of my eye, a well dressed girl with a pair of boots on.  They weren’t any ordinary pair of boots.  They were absolutely gorgeous! I had never seen boots like those before, and without shame I ogled those boots nonstop until it was time for us to leave.

It was really the first time I fell in love at first time.. with a shoe.

Through the power of the internet I found out the style and maker!  Hallelujah.  So I bought them online on my birthday that year on Lori’s Shoes using an online coupon.  They have since sold out from that site but due to its popularity it’s easily found online.  Today’s current Zoe prices haven’t changed much, and after two years of wear I believe the price is justified.

Sam Edelman – The Zoe Boot

The harness is removable, but I find that I like it on much better.

So over two years later… These boots are still one of my favorite shoes to go out in.  They have worn well too.. I took these shoe pics this morning and they still look great!  The hidden 1.25″ platform, wide base and thick heel make this shoe very comfortable… and I have very finicky feet.  I love the look of spindly stiletto heels but frankly I can’t hang!

How I style it:

Inspiration:

It’s super chunky.. but I think it makes the legs look slim especially with black skinnies.

WHAT is going on with the sales lately…  Target is clearing out their patio stuff already, H&M is having a big sale, Forever 21 is having a BOGO sale, Zara is having a sale… it’s really hard not to shop right now.  T__T Eeep!

I got two really good shoe finds this week at Nordstrom Rack and Neiman Marcus Last Call.  Unfortunately, neither shoe is on sale online anymore. :(  Try your luck on Ebay or go to the stores and look around.

Sam Edelman – Quinn

Originally $150 retail, bought for $60 at Nordstrom Rack.  They have slight wrinkling on the satin wedge but it is hardly noticeable and doesn’t bother me in the slightest.  That’s probably why it’s on further clearance!

I have been eyeing the Sam Edelman Quinn since I saw Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook wearing them.  They are near dupes for the Giuseppe Zanotti I06078 wedges (see an example here).  I really wanted to find a pair at the time, but I’m glad that I waited so I could scoop these up.  The platform is SO high that the pitch is incredibly low and comfortable to walk in.  This is one of the most comfortable ‘dressy’ shoes I own by far.  I’m really happy that I found them in a subdued leopard print instead of plain black… I feel they are more dimensional and interesting that way.  (Look at me.. all justifying my purchase to make myself feel better about buying shoes.. *SMH*)

House of Harlow – Talia Boots

Original retail $295, bought for $40

Short legs be damned, I still love over-the-knee boots!  I walked into Neiman Marcus Last Call just to take a look around… I never buy anything there normally.  I just go for the eyecandy ;)  But I saw these boots… they were rolled up around the soles and as I unrolled the boot shafts my eyes went wide.  O___O  House of Harlow boots for additional 50% off the tag price!  And the shoe sign said it was another 30% off on top of that.  *omgomg*

Actually when I rang them up, it was 40% off instead of the 30% I anticipated.  OOOooH.  So I paid only $42.87~!  They are incredibly comfortable.  I know its hard to think of wearing boots now that we’re in the thick of summer but I’m SO excited to wear these in the fall/winter. Well.. once I figure out the best way to tie them up on my legs, haha.

I havn’t bought any clothing so far this year (WOO!!), but I did buy a pair of black Minnetonka boots.  (Black boots!! Ugh.  My personal kryptonite.)

Minnetonka Women’s Hi Top Back Zip Boot

Found on Ebay for $23.99 including shipping from this seller.   I don’t think I can find a good pair of Minnetonkas for under $30 at Nordstrom Rack, so I think this is worth it.  Hopefully the rest of February will slide by quickly without any additional impulse purchases.  :P

April is slowly inching closer each day.  I check Craigslist a few minutes a day to see if new studio apartments pop up, but seems like I’ll still have to stick with my original plan (moving to a different apartment in the same apartment complex).

My apartment-mate and I are on completely different work schedules so its easy to avoid her.  Thank goodness, because I don’t want to deal with drama anymore.

I had quite a few goodies to donate/sell this weekend so I headed to Crossroads and Goodwill.  I left the apartment with 3 trashbags and came back with $42 in Crossroads store credit and a $100 donation receipt for 2010′s taxes!

Admittedly I did window shop but nothing was worth buying.  I did see a cute silvery gray, double layer tank at Crossroads but at $22 I wasn’t willing to fork over my store credit for it.

A short while ago I saw these Woodstock Minnetonka boots for $30 at Nordstrom Rack.  Pretty cute but perhaps a little too trendy with the fringe and the beads?  I’d like to find a good pair of comfortable walking shoes for Japan that aren’t flip flops or sneakers.  I do have a $20 Nordstrom note that expires late this summer, but I decided to wait on it.

Eh turns out the boots are gone now.  :(  Oh well.  Wasn’t meant to be I guess.  I did see these:

These Calf High Suede boots were also $30 and very comfortable… However they heavily taper from calf to ankle and make my legs look a bit too… stocky.   I’m not a fan of cone legs, thanks.

Hiii…  Long time no post!

Bought these little babies last week for $64 at Nordstrom Rack!

They’re pretty comfy but I still need to put some kind of foam ball-0f-foot insole in the front.  I tried wearing them for a few hours of shopping and my feet were pretty tired.

I love the heel and the soft buttery leather!  Funny thing is, I’m a size 7 and I actually got these in a size 6…  the leather is so supple that the boots feel bigger than marked!
