Yup today’s my 27th birthday.  I don’t feel that much different!  In a few hours I’ll be going to work.  I really should have taken the day off, but oh well.

27 is also the year my mom got married so she has been asking about it lately.  Haha.

This weekend I went out with Buddy and Justin to Fort Funston in San Francisco (doggy heaven!) and went to a wine and fondue party at a friend’s house.  On Sunday Justin and I had the obligatory Chinese food dinner with the parents.  It was the perfect weekend.

I don’t normally get such fancy presents for my birthday but this weekend Justin and my parents surprised me early!

From my parents:

A Prada wallet.. my first Prada anything.  The quality is amazing!

And a delicate Tiffany necklace from Justin.  The meaning behind it really gets to me :*)

I’m so blessed to have them in my life

I got promoted!

I had my yearly review two days ago and I was surprised to find out that I got a promotion!

The reason why I was (and still am) surprised is that I’ve been on temporary assignment in a different department for the past year and I’m just now moving back to my original job in a few weeks.  But they decided to promote me anyway!

I wanted to thank those of you who were so kind and encouraging when I expressed some disappointment due to a recent internal job interview.

Funny how life can be sometimes…  I felt so let down after not getting the job I wanted and a few weeks later I find I’ve been promoted to a higher position than the job I applied for!

So now what?

Since my income has increase, I’ve been thinking about what to do with my budget.

This month I spent a lot of money on home decor, Buddy, and Groupons for Hawaii.  Subsequently I’ve had to pay one of my highest credit card bills in the past few years.  (Side note: I try to charge most items on the card with the most rewards)

So I’ve really been feeling a money crunch!

After getting the good news I’ve felt the full spectrum of budgeting mood swings:

First, I wanted to save, save, save!

A day after I thought about treating myself:

Another Chanel purse?  $3000?

A Moroccan wedding blanket for the foot of my bed?

After some serious virtual window shopping (enough to the point of exhaustion), I think its best for me to lay low and refrain from buying anything special.

I should really be paying myself first instead of locking it up into an object.  Not very fun and exciting, but it’s for the best.

I’m just hoping I don’t change my mind!

I’m going to be a homeowner!

It’s finally my time  Earlier this year I tried to get a short sale townhouse but that fell through because the bank wanted more money.

Fast forward to now…..We’re closing on my condo right before the holidays! Eeep!

In this last post back in July I posted my condo/townhouse wishlist:

• Located in an area with good schools

Ehh… the school district ranks 7/10.  Could be better but then again the price of the house is directly proportional to the school district ranking. I can’t afford a million dollar place thankyouverymuch.

• 2 bed, 2 bath (much easier to sell in the long run)

Check!

• Walk-in closet for the master

Nope no more walk-in closet for me. Sigh.

• Lots of light!

Check!  Corner, end lot~!

• Open, updated kitchen with lots of counter space

It’s open, has lots of counter space, and the kitchen is fairly new but the counters and cabinets are not my style :T

• A gas stove (I hate electric!)

Ugh its electric.

• A washer and dryer inside the unit

Check!

• Adequate storage

I guess this is a check!  It has lots of shelving in the garage plus I have that spare room closet for coats and other things.  Still sad about lack of closet space though but maybe I’ll put in an extra wardrobe in the master?

• 2 car garage (negotiable)

1 car garage.  Oh well.  Better than just a carport!

And BONUS:  Spacious covered patio!! Woooo!

I can’t believe I’m moving in a month!  Since my last move back in April I purged a lot of things but now I’m having trouble paring down again.

I’m already planning out the decor!  Things are happening so quickly for me…  My condo dreams are actually coming true, and at work they’re moving me to a different engineering department because they’re short handed. And as a relative newbie they’d like to teach me some new things…which is great for my job security and resume.  AND it’s a regular 9-to-5 morning shift instead of my 3-to-12 evening shift!  Wow maybe I can have an active social life! Maybe

Hi!

Big news!

I’ve decided to remove net worth stats off my site and actually show my face. If you couldn’t tell already I’ve removed the censoring from my Twitter pic and my pic on the sidebar. And if you’ve been a reader for a while, lucky you! You know how much I’m worth! I’m getting into more makeup-related posts and I can’t really move forward with it without showing my face, now can I?

Don’t worry though, I’m still going to post about personal finance and my frivolous expenditures every month! I’m still very passionate about finances… it affects my day-to-day life so I can never get away from it.

So here I am! I took some pics via webcam because is is infinitely more difficult to take pics of myself with a big honking DSLR!!!

Necklace in progress

Found some clearance scraps at the craft store so I’m whipping up a flower statement necklace.  The coral pink and silvery gray remind me of J. Crew color palettes!

They’re basically fabric strips cut on the bias, tied into knots and trimmed with pinking shears.

On a personal note… I broke up with  my BF last night.  (Long story.)  I’m feeling sad but I’ll be ok eventually.  ♥  No bad blood though, thank goodness.

I haven’t been single in 6 whole years (one relationship after another) so I’m excited to take on what comes next.
