Here’s my outfit for PAG‘s first Petite Fashion Challenge!
The Challenge:
Create an outfit for weekend brunch with your girlfriends. The outfit must include one garment that is typically notorious for being a petite “don’t.” Such garments include: dresses, skirts, or pants that hit at the scary mid-calf length (not cute, cuffed jeans…I’m talking real capris) or below the knee, maxi dresses, full A-lined skirts, or wide-legged pants.
I do have a pair of wide leg 7 for Mankind jeans but I decided to go with a certain item I havn’t worn out yet because frankly, it’s a SERIOUS Petite “Don’t”.
I was out shopping with my mom last year and found this gorgeous black silk jumpsuit at Macy*s for $15. Great deal! Funny thing was, it was a returned item and the tag had either fallen off or cut out. So I bought it without knowing its actual size…all I know is that it’s from BCBG. I suspect that this is a size Small or Medium.

Anyway onto the pictures!
This is a doozy of a Petite “Don’t” because it’s
- A jumpsuit… with a long length like a maxi dress
- The pant legs are EXTREMELY wide and can make me look stumpy
I removed the black silk belt that came with it, pulled on a stretchy belt from F21 and wore my nude patent Rebecca Taylor pumps that look good with just about everything. In some of the pictures I look like I’m not wearing any shoes though… it shows how wide the pant legs are. Wide enough to swallow up my shoes and then some.

Rebecca Taylor Nude Patent Pumps in Size 7
Forever 21 Black Patent Croc Waist Belt
I’m really happy I did this challenge because even though the pant legs are super wide I feel like I have the confidence to pull it off (as long as I wear some shoes with height!). Silly thing is, I have a black maxi that looks similar when viewed from the side. I shouldn’t have been so afraid of wearing this. Now all I need is an occasion to wear this jumpsuit out! hehe.

You wear size 7 shoes too?
You know, I really like this look. Are you able to hem the pant legs a smidge? Either that or do you have super high heels? I can totally see you rocking this look – throw on the hat you have in your side bar and some great bold earrings and I think you’re ready to go
Yeah I hemmed them myself last year… planning to wear them with very high, comfy wedges. hehe.
you look stunning, really, I love this look on you!
Aww thank u Steph #^^#
Thanks for participating, Elle : ) I agree with the others that you look stunning. This is a very elegant look for evening that I wouldn’t have the gall to attempt. I’m with curls & pearls…can they be hemmed a smidge more? Maybe so they brush right at floor length?
Yes I think you’re right.. the length is still a bit long so I’ll have to check the hem again… And thank YOU Jean ;D for coming up with these challenges
I love the first picture! You actually look much taller in that one than the other photos where the shoes don’t show. I think you definitely pulled off the look, and the stretchy belt really shows off your tiny waist! Great outfit, I’d love to see you wear it out
Thanks Diana
yeah my legs look pretty short without feet, huh. LOL
Oh my goodness, either you have a trick elongating mirror or you’ve been photoshopped in that first pic! Your waist seriously can’t be that small! Lol… but seriously, you look so chic and elegant. I don’t know if I dare trying to pull off this look but you look awesome!
You know what, I think its the mirror and the angle. That plus my head is cut off. Not entirely sure. :T
This is the second post of yours that makes your legs look a mile long! I really like how the jumpsuit looks from the side, the top really hugs your curves. I can see this looking fantastic with a pair of cute wedges!
Yes now I do think its the mirror! Haha. And you’re right…..wedges will be a must… I don’t think I can master spindly stilettos AND the wide legs fluttering everywhere! :X I can imagine myself tripping already
You are a brave woman! Jumpsuit and wide leg?! but it works on you.
I’m curious as to how low the crotch is on this jumpsuit. The pictures make it seem like they’re low enough to be harem pants.
I like that you switched out the belt and went w/this stretchy one, instead of the self tie.
I can definitely appreciate you thinking outside of the box and showcasing a jumpsuit on a petite frame for this challenge.
The crotch of the pant hits at my upper thigh… the legs are SO wide that I agree the effect does look like harem pants. hehe.
wow! you look awesomeeeee and so tall
) if i wasn’t so much of a klutz, i’d definitely rock this too!
You totally rock this outfit. I agree with everyone. If you could either wear higher heels or hem those pants a bit shorter, this outfit is a total do for petites.
Wow, you look very chic and stylish in this jumpsuit. You definitely pulled it off flawlessly.
Your waist is incredibly tiny, wish my was that way!!
I really like this look on you, very chic! I agree with everyone else, they may need just a tiny hem up.
The side view is the best! You look smoldering with your long hair and bangs. I love how it can look like a dress, or like a jumpsuit, depending on angle and stance. Such a perfect outfit for dinner on a warm evening. You def have the body to rock this!
I liked how you paired it with a really, BOLD belt. OMG, your waist is so tiny! I really like the edgy look. =0D Wow, very unique to have a wide legged, long jumper! I want to try it out now!
